Greco Info

  • Upper Body Focus:

Wrestlers in Greco-Roman wrestling primarily rely on their arms and upper bodies for attacks and holds.

  • No Leg Attacks:

The use of legs for offensive or defensive maneuvers is prohibited, including tripping, grabbing, or using legs to control the opponent.

  • Emphasis on Throws and Takedowns:

The restrictions on leg use lead to a greater emphasis on throws, takedowns, and upper body holds to gain dominance.

  • Origins:

Greco-Roman wrestling originated in France in the early 19th century, inspired by classical Greek and Roman representations of the sport.

  • Olympic Sport:

Greco-Roman wrestling is a recognized Olympic sport, contested alongside freestyle wrestling
